Team SES Racing
Introducing Team SES Racing
Dylan Thorntongeebeebee media is proud to present Team SES Racing, one of the South East's up and coming grassroots downhill race team for 2013. With the average age of 16, these guys are passionate about mountain biking through and through. With big goals set for 2013 including competing in national, regional and grassroots race weekends, team riders Dylan Thornton, Ali Holland, Will Minton and John Salisbury take us through their plans for next year.

geebeebee media and Whisper Bikes co-sponsor Team SES Racing and there are currently more sponsors in the pipeline. It's great to see the industry starting to pick up on the importance of supporting grassroots racing. Mountain biking is an expensive sport and with bikes and riders being put through their paces it's a great long-term testing ground for their products given the ever growing grassroots racing scene in the UK. It's evident that these riders are up for the challenge and want to get the best of out racing together. Ali Holland's view on racing is a great example of that; "To do well in the sport you need to train hard and push yourself, inside and outside the gym. Try your best, if you come off, get back up and try again, most important, enjoy it."

Ali Holland Team SES Racing have been spending the cold autumn months cracking on with their training which is either spent down the gym or out in their local trails (Rogate and Aston Hill). With winter fast approaching, the team will be spending more time getting race-ready for the start of the New Year. We put the question to some of the members of the team to find out when and how Team SES Racing stated:

Dylan: Earlier this year I had a big crash resulting with a broken collarbone and elbow. After undergoing five hours of surgery I was well on the road recovery. Whilst lying in hospital for a week I wanted to make make use of my time there and that's when I came up with the idea to set up a grassroots youth downhill race team. Planning the team and arranging sponsorship certainly made the time fly!

Will Holland Ali: After riding all my life and riding downhill competitively for two years I thought it was about time to progress myself in the downhill. Through racing at PORC, Aston Hill and The Bull Track, we met Will. Everyone knew each other and got on, that's how we formed the team. I've been riding with Dylan for two years now so putting the team together was a natural thing for us to do.

Will: Dylan was the one who originally came up with the idea in hospital. I joined because it was a chance to be part of something and to be in a team of like minded people to ride, train and race with and bring a purpose to my riding. Don't get me wrong, I love to ride my bike but being in Team SES Racing is an opportunity to be motivated even on rainy days to go out and ride. I'm not representing myself at races any more, instead I'm representing the team, which is something I am proud of.
